Bought this book for a year and just started the first page yesterday and could not put it down until the last page now.

Because of her being a total stranger and how she approached me with this book, I thought she was weird. I knew someone who had this book and I borrowed it. It caught my interest and I bought one of my own, which I read twice. The energy is what caught my attention in this book. In time I began to practise the energy seen in plants and trees. I caught myself more involved in information about Aura's. At that time this book also lead me toward meditation. Eventually I found myself destine to seek deeper. I held a pen in my hand and asked what my destiny was? Why do these things happen and who is behind all this? Though this method did reveal answers, I thought Satan was behind it. Little do we know about the unknown...until we understand the love and understanding of our creator. God's techniques work mysterious in way's that are not commonly understood. Therefore, you need to understand the barricade that separates you from many hidden truths which is available for you to direct your destiny. If you are not rooted in what you believe to be true, critics can turn you toward doubt and fear. God is no fear nor is he punishing. The physical being connected to the external world, live's and applies the rules and theories, which deal with fear beyond the means of God. The soul is connected to the internal world where it knows peace and wisdom with God. The true characteristics of humankind develop these truths from within this realm. It is only known to that individual in spirit with spirit, whereas, beyond the means of God is Ego against spirit. This book has sold more than 8 million copies. It's hard to understand why. It's a poorly written fantasy-fiction novel about a modern day young man who goes to Peru to search for a manuscript that is supposed to reveal ancient secrets about the fate of humankind. The Church and the Peruvian government want to suppress this information, so there is an attempt at a plot. Most of the time I was bored and annoyed at the book, whose "insights" were certainly not new. All the characters seemed the same, and the story was silly. I was prepared to write a scathing review.And then I thought about it some more and have softened my attitude. The basic concept of the book is one of hope. The vision it leaves is that the world is evolving into a far far better place. Not only that, but each one of us, by just being aware of the insights in our daily lives, can carry the message and make this nirvana happen sooner. And this hope I speak about is not just a personal salvation, but a salvation for the whole human race. This little book makes it all seem possible.I don't think this book meant to be viewed as literature. It isn't. It's a positive message about the meaning of life. In that, the author succeeded. I would recommend it for curiosity seekers who would be willing to plod through it for this message. And, frankly, I'm glad I read it.

This book is a signpost along the road that the New Age has taken from being primarily the realm of well-meaning but gullible hippies to being primarily a capitalist concern for busy yuppies who want their inner life, like their vitamin C and their fiber, in a pill.Unlike vitamin C and fiber, this contrived (though emotionally manipulative) plot speckled with forgettable characters and those nine brilliant insights that read like one of your better fortune cookies won't actually do you any good.
Oh, come on, people, are your lives so shallow that you need this trite and fluffy stuff to nourish your spirituality? I know the book has been enormously popular and I guess that just goes to show how distant we've all become--from each other and from ourselves. I found this book so unappealing I couldn't even finish it. I was going to throw it away, but donated it to the local library instead. Some lost and bereft soul might read it and actually believe he benefits. There is absolutely nothing of value between the covers of this book. It would have been worth more had the author left the pages blank. Then I could have at least used it for notes.
